Assisted living facilities in Arizona are residential care institutions that provide care services on a continuing basis. This includes Adult Foster Care. They may provide or contract to provide personal, supervisory, or directed care.
Personal Care Services are classified as services which can be offered by someone without special or professional training. Assistance with daily activities can be provided, but residents must be able to direct their own care.
Supervisory Care Services are more of general supervision. Workers may assist with self-administered medications, as well as offer support if a crisis arises. They keep aware of the daily functions and needs of the residents.
Directed Care Services are programs and services offered to residents unable to recognize basic care decisions. This includes people who may not know when to ask for assistance or how to express the need.
These facilities are allowed a maximum of 2 residents per bedroom. Each private room must contain at least 80 square feet. In shared bedrooms, each resident must have at least 60 square feet of living space. Bathrooms may be shared, with at least one full bathroom including a toilet and shower or bath per 8 residents.
Each assisted living facility must have a designated manager. While there are no set staffing ratios, there must be sufficient staff to care for the residents. Every staff member needs to be trained in CPR and first aid.
